Instagram SEO for Wedding Vendors: What Google Search Means for Your Content
If you’re a wedding vendor, Instagram is probably one of the first places couples go to look at your work. They’re scrolling through your photos, watching your Reels, reading your captions, and trying to get a feel for whether you might be the right fit for their wedding.
But Instagram content now has another job. It can help people discover your business through Google.
Since July 2025, eligible public content from professional Instagram accounts has been able to appear in search results on Google and Microsoft Bing. Google has since introduced Instagram platform properties in Search Console, allowing eligible creators and businesses to see which search queries are leading people to their Instagram content.
That means a couple searching for a Gold Coast wedding photographer, Brisbane wedding venue, or local bridal makeup artist could potentially find your Instagram content before they ever open the app.
For wedding vendors, this creates another opportunity to be seen during the research stage of the couple’s planning journey.
What has changed with Instagram and Google?
Since July 2025, eligible public photos and videos from professional Instagram accounts have been able to appear in search results on Google and Microsoft Bing.
According to Instagram, this can apply when:
The Instagram account is public
The account is set as a professional Business or Creator account
The account holder is aged 18 or older
Search engine visibility has not been turned off in the account’s privacy settings
Eligible content can include public photos and videos from posts, Reels, and Story Highlights. This does not mean every Instagram post will automatically rank on Google. Search engines still decide what content to crawl, index, and show. What has changed is the opportunity for your Instagram content to be discovered by people who are searching outside the app. And now, Google has made that discovery easier to measure. Its Instagram platform property in Search Console allows businesses and creators to see things such as search queries, impressions and clicks connected to their Instagram content.
If you’re a wedding vendor, this update could be a game changer
Couples rarely use just one platform when planning a wedding. They might discover a photographer through an Instagram Reel, search for reviews on Google, browse the photographer’s website, return to Instagram to view more recent work, and then make an enquiry.
During that process, they’re making quick decisions:
Do I like their style?
Are they located near me?
Do they work at the type of venue we’ve chosen?
Do they seem experienced?
Can I trust them with our wedding?
Is it easy to find out more or make an enquiry?
If your Instagram posts appear in search results, they can become another entry point into your business. A helpful carousel, a venue tour, or a Reel from a real wedding could introduce your work to a couple who has never heard of your brand before.
What are couples searching for?
This is where your content strategy comes in. Instead of only thinking: “What should I post this week?”, start asking: “What might a couple actually be searching for?”
A Gold Coast wedding photographer might create content around:
Gold Coast wedding photography spots
Wedding photography locations at Burleigh Heads
How to be candid during wedding photos
How many hours of wedding photography do we need?
When should we book our wedding photographer?
A Brisbane wedding venue might answer:
Brisbane wedding venues with garden views
How many guests can we accommodate?
What is included in our wedding package?
A florist could talk about:
How much do wedding flowers cost?
Flowers for a summer wedding
The point isn't to cram these phrases into every caption. It is to create content around the things your ideal couples are already trying to figure out.
Make your Instagram profile clear
Start with your profile. A potential client should be able to visit your account and quickly understand:
What service you provide
Where you’re located
Which areas you service
What style or experience you offer
How they can enquire
A bio filled with phrases such as “creating unforgettable moments” may sound lovely, but it does not explain what the business actually does. A clearer option might be: “Gold Coast wedding florist creating modern, garden-inspired arrangements for weddings across South East Queensland.”
This still communicates style, but it also tells couples and search engines what the business offers.
Your location matters to Google and your couples
Wedding marketing is highly local. Couples aren't usually searching for just: “wedding photographer.” They're searching for: “Gold Coast wedding photographer.” “Brisbane wedding venue.” “Byron Bay wedding florist.” “Sydney wedding celebrant.”
If you service a particular area, make that clear where it naturally fits across your online presence.
That might be your: Instagram bio, captions, website, Google business profile, location tags and blog content. You don't need to list every suburb in Australia. Focus on the locations and services that are genuinely relevant to your business.
Don't let SEO take the personality out of your content
There is one thing we don't want wedding vendors to do with all of this: Turn Instagram into a keyword spreadsheet!
Your content still needs to feel human and your captions should still sound like it came from you. The storytelling still matters and the beauty of your work does too.
Remember, uou've answered the same questions from couples over and over again. That knowledge is content, so don’t forget to use it.
Google's guidance continues to emphasise helpful, people-first content and first-hand experience.
Don’t leave your website behind
Instagram appearing in Google does not reduce the importance of your website. Your website is still where couples go to understand your services, view your work, read testimonials, learn about your work and finally submit an enquiry.
Your Instagram and website should support each other. Someone who discovers an Instagram post through Google should be able to visit your profile, click through to your website, and find a clear next step.
What should wedding vendors implement on social media right now?
You don't need to completely change your Instagram strategy.
Start with these five things:
1. Make your bio clear. Say what you do and where you work.
2. Add useful context to your captions. Mention the location, service, wedding style or topic when it is relevant.
3. Create content around real questions. Your enquiries and client conversations are full of content ideas.
4. Show your expertise. Don't just show the finished wedding. Share what you know.
5. Look at your search data. If you have access to Instagram's Search Console platform property, see which queries are bringing people to your content and use those insights when planning future posts.
